My favorite American Gewurtztraminer….
2010 Montinore Gewurtztraminer (Willamette Valley, Oregon)- This is the third vintage of this wine I’ve carried at Cellar Rat. From organic/biodynamic vineyards, this is one of the few American examples that competes with Alsace. Almost dry in style, it has classic rose and lychee aromas and flavors in a thirst quenching, medium bodied frame. Just delicious. Keep this one in mind for Asian BYOBs and for Thanksgiving. $16.99
Other arrivals of note…
- Tenuta San Vito “Darno” Chianti- Traditional style, organically grown, quite impressive Tuscan Sangiovese. $19.99
- Caves de Saumur Blanc “Plantagenets”- Really superb dry Chenin Blanc for a ridiculously low price. $12.99
- Vinyes de Gabriel L’Heravi Montsant- A big, hearty, spicy blend of Garnacha & Carinena from this top, organic/biodynamic producer. Earthy, traditional style…complex, age-worthy, impressive. $29.99
